if you are a former Bevin Boy it is worth noting that date. 23rd August 2007. This is the 60th anniversary of the day two Bevin Boys lost their lives in an underground explosion in the 4th North District along with 20 other miners. It would have been nice to hold a small service on the site of the memorial at St Aidans Church, Annfield Plain on that day but due to very bad health, I am not able to arrange it. Any volunteers?. i will give you all the information you may need. The two Bevin Boys were, Francis E Martin of Catchgate and Gerald Moore of Chichester. The other names of the miners killed is available on request.
